ghouls and what not...

i hate children...we had a halloween party at work and it was for kids and stuff...we had like coloring contests and hay stack fights and pumpkin shootouts and stuff....luckily i only had to talk to like 3 kids cause i was stuck at the cashier counter all day...

well i had to clean up from it today...half chewed gum stuck inbetween 2 tshirts in a display...candy wrappers everywhere...a $300 kids table marked to shit with crayons and stuff...paintball marks all over the side of a building...remnants of kids everywhere...it was ridiculous....

costume conclusions: party on friday night: marty and i went to off broadway to see a show dressed as jack and meg white from the white stripes and had fun telling everyone all night that we were divorced...

kidtoberfest at work on sat: i was a family-friendly pirate wench...

party on wednesday of this week: i think i'm going to be either the pirate again, meg white again, or maybe i'll just go straight from work and rock the biker look...i just do it so well...hehe

so everyone, halloween stories...ready set go!

Damn you midterms.

I hate midterms. Especially when I don't have them. In fact, I hate them more than when I do have them. No one is around to play with you! And yes I have a paper due last Monday. And a homework assignment due Wednesday. But I want to dress up in my Halloween costume and tailor it. And sew my roommate's costume. But I am all by myself for the first time ever at night, in my house. And I am bored. So I'm listening to the Killers, and I'm thinking of Ella. I made acorn squash and it made me think of Carolyn, and her obsession with avocados. I baked pumpkin banana bread. I changed light bulbs. Call me a domestic goddess. My other options are: do the massive pile of dishes, clean my room, locate my finances folder or take a shower. This is so lame. I don't even have any barbies or boats to play with in the shower. No rubber ducky. These are the nights that I really wish I could just go to bed early, but then I realize that I've slept all day (minus attending classes) because it's gross and raining and cold outside. Even though it was a gorgeous, sunny day yesterday and 80 degrees. I guess I should go now. Hope everyone is doing well. What are you guys doing for Halloween costumes? I'm going to be a pirate. I'll dress up and have my roommates take a picture so I can post it. If they ever come home.

Myrtle Beach

Tom and I recently took a 4 day trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was sooo much fun. The nice thing about going in September is that the hotel prices are so cheap, the temperatures are hot during the day so it's fun at the beach and cool and breezy at night so it's beautiful outside, and there is not many other people around. The drive down there was so beautiful. It was a 13 hour drive and it was incredible. Driving through the mountains in North Carolina was so amazing and Nashville was surprisingly cool. We went to all the Ripleys attractions (the aquarium, Believe it or Not, moving theatre, and haunted adventure). We also went to Planet Hollywood and Salsaritas (I forgot how much I miss Salsaritas for all those SLU people). At Planet Hollywood Tom ordered a 20 dollar steak and it was the best steak I have ever tasted. He has a ton more cool pics on his camera and I might add some later.

me and tommy on le plage

this was the picture from our hotel room. our hotel wasn't bad, but the surrounding hotels looked like palaces. when we were looking for ours we kept expecting it to be one of the castles. but for 40 dollars a night our hotel was pretty damn nice.

us on our balcony. we had a room on the highest floor.

so at the end of our trip back to st louis we were both tired because it was like midnight and we had woken up early in the mornign trying to find my cell phone (which was never found. my brand new 300 dollar cell phone lost). we stopped in dupo for gas and took some pics to help cheer us up. this is a pic of me pumping gas in dupo. i bought some cappucino in the gas station and it tasted so bad me and tom called it "duporhea"

again me and tom at the beach.

this fish was so fucking cool. it was the nerdiest looking fish i have ever seen. it reminds me of the nerd fish in finding nemo who yells "Oh my gosh! Nemo's schwimming out to schea!" with a really nerdy lisp the reminds me of Sid the Sloth.

in this one you can clearly see it's buck teeth

tom holding a horseshoe crab

me holding a horseshoe crab (it took me like five times of dropping the nasty thing before i finally just picked it up)

this octopus was awesome

tom is holding the shark.

tom and the fish staring at each other

these were so awesome. they are called leafy sea dragons and they are so pretty. i want one for a pet (the picture didn't turn out so well but tom got a really cool picture of them)

this is where i am nearly positive i dropped my cell phone. it was outside the haunted adventure which wasn't that scary but pretty funny cause we had a lot of funny people in our group

van goghs self portrait made from jelly beans

tom being crazy

tom next to the tallest man in the world

these shark jaws are from a shark in dinosaur times. this shark was actually bigger than the t-rex. how scary would it be to run into that while you were swimming?

more pics later

Um, excuse me? Really?

Does anyone know who this is? I'll tell you how I came across this. So Mizzou has this collegiate swimsuit calendar that first came out last year or the year before. Very controversial, yadda yadda yadda. So my roommate has a girl in her honors frat (yes, it's co-ed) who is one of the girls of MU. And currently, there is a big poll going on to see who gets the front cover picture. So we're going through this list and looking at all the girls, and who do we come across? This girl:

Who is she, you ask? I don't know, I thought she looked familiar. We go back to double check what her name was. Britney S. Oh yes. If you look at the picture sideways, you can see it is obviously BRITNEY STEPHENS, from our lovely graduating class of 2005. Oh Nerinx, what have you produced? I just thought it was funny. Here's the link to the poll so you can vote on your favorite Mizzou girl:

hasn't been much conversation, has there

I've figured out what I want to do next summer. I keep switching jobs, because of money, mostly. Or because there's just so much that I could do, and I like to keep trying new things. So this past summer I worked at the Y day camp, which was crazy. Anyway, next summer, I want to be a youth counselor on a cruise ship.

Turns out there are several cruise companies with youth programs, and they hire seasonal workers to watch the kids and do stuff with them, and as a benefit, the staff ends up in Hawaii. Or Alaska, or the Caribbean. Pretty sweet, huh?

On an unrelated note, in order to spice up this post, I'm going to relate a charming anecdote from my weekend. You see, we went down to Capadoccia, where there are these crazy rock formations and monasteries and stuff cut into cliffs. While there, we talked to this guy that sold carpets, and who invited us in to break the Ramadan fast with him and the other guys that worked there. It was very nice, and fun. And this guy told us we should come back, especially since my birthday is coming up. He said, "Come back for your birthday, and we will have a party. The 21st is a special birthday." The next day, as I was saying goodbye, he reminded me again of this, saying, "We'll find you a husband." I told him that I wasn't looking for a husband, not yet, and he said, "Well, maybe a boyfriend, then."

He also told us a dirty joke. In return I told him a Turkish pun that I learned from a popsicle stick, and he thought it was hilarious.
